FLUID EARTH : Individual Sculpture based on Google-Earth
The surface of the FLUID EARTH Sculpture is defined through the individual selection of a particular section of the earth and carved from wood. Like all products from Fluidforms, the FLUID EARTH can also be modified through the use of a simple On-line Design Tool on www.fluidforms.at.
The Design-Tool makes it easy to create a truly unique and personal item. This sensory experience is made possible through the Google-Maps web service, through NASA elevation data and Consumer-Design-Software from www.algodes.com. FLUID EARTH is a journey of discovery within your own living room. Whether as a fruit bowl, a safe place for your keys or a mural for your wall – the application of your FLUID EARTH is left up to your imagination.
Simply select your desired location and within seconds you can view it in the form of a FLUID EARTH Sculpture. You can then zoom in or out from your location or pan across the earth's surface to adjust your selection.
A computer controlled machine carves the Sculpture following the topography of your chosen landscape. The surface is then sanded, oiled and polished by hand. Felt pads are applied to the bottom of the Sculpture to prevent scratches and attachments are mounted to enable you to hang your FLUID EARTH on the wall. Within two weeks your FLUID EARTH is delivered to your door, so you can enjoy your favourite part of the earth in unique physical form on your table or wall.
